When the clala case was resumed today, John Gaxieu, official starter for the Australian Jockey Club gave evidence for the defence. He said that at the start of lost Derby Mala looked all right and showed no signs of lameness. In .act he settled down well at the barrier. Leslie Fraser who is senior AJ.C. steward, said that Mala appeared a little fretful and was sweating a little more than usual and did not appear to be in his usual condition prior to the start of the Derby. Witness did not notice any soreness or lameness. The case was adjourned.
