LOSS OF GERMAN EXPEDITION United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright SIMLA, June 22. It has now been found that Dr. Karl Wein, the leader, perished when the German Nanga Parbat expedition was overwhelmed by an avalanche. The sole survivor is Dr. Ulrich Luft, of Munich, who has telegraphed from Gilgit that he is safe and well. Details of the disaster are still awaited from Major Kirkbridge, the British political agent at Gilgit, who went to the spot after telegraphing the first news of the disaster. An avalanche overwhelmed the German Nanga Parbat expedition, killing seven climbers and nine Gurkha porters. The leader, Dr, Carl Wein, was earliei' reported to have escaped.
