SMUGGLERS CAUGHT
ELABORATE OPERATIONS REVEALED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copvrlgbt (Received June 24, 11.2 p.m.) NEW YORK, June 23. The Federal grand jury indicted 55 persons, including 13 women, allegedly the largest and most elaborate diamond smuggling ring that ever operated in the United States, with having brought into the country 13,000,000 dollars worth of gems illicitly during the past seven years. Many of those indicted are residents of Antwerp which is the ostensible centre of the ring’s activities.
