UNION’S CLAIMS
SHIPWRIGHTS’ DISPUTE By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, June 22. The claims by the New Zealand Federated Shipwrights and Boatbuilders’ employees for a new award were discussed in a Conciliation Council to-day. A 40-hour week was sought with a free Saturday, and the minimum wage for journeymen of 3/- an hour. The counter-proposals were 2/7i for shipwrights and 2/51 for boatbuilders. An application by the Wellington Harbour Board for exemption was not agreed to, and the question was reserved for the Court.
