NEW ZEALANDERS IN WALES

United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received May 18, 12.25 a.m.) CARDIFF, May 18. Several of the critics praise the New Zealand bowling and fielding which kept the scoring down to a run a minute on what many consider the best batting wicket in England. “The Cardiff Mail” says: An outstanding feature was Moloney’s successful revival of the old-time “donkey drop,” assisted by the “swift serenity," of the, stumpings by Tindill. NEW ZEALANDERS IN WALES VIGOROUS COUNTY BATTING United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright CARDIFF, May 17. The billiard-table wicket, from which the ball came through at an easy pace and height, nullified the manful efforts of the persevering bowlers, in the match New Zealand v. Glamorganshire, and enabled the county to secure a lead, before the largest crowd that ever watched a touring team at Cardiff. There was perfect holiday weather to-day. The attendance was 6000. Davies was aggressive, hitting five fours. Six bowlers stuck gamely to the difficult task. Dunning was remarkably steady for long periods. Roberts also was consistently accurate, and took two quick wickets at the tail end. Vivian kept the scoring rate down by clever flighting. Moloney turned the slows sharply, ar.d was not afraid to give the ball the air. Weir secured a useful wicket with a new ball. Page bowled to the leg field. Tindill had a great day behind the stumps. The fielding generally was excellent, especially the run-saving on the boundary. New Zealand’s Weak Reply Hadlee and Wallace fell to good slip catches off the fast bowler. Kerr was yorked when going well.. Weir and Moloney carefully played out time. New Zealand may have a troublesome period early to-morrow, due to the morning dew, which is usually experienced here.
