WEDDING
WRIGHT-BROWN At the Presbyterian Churchy Temuka, the marriage was celebrated of Ellen May, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs J. T. Brown, Guild’s Road, and George Arnold, son of Mrs M. A. Wright, “Willow Bank.” Clinton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. F. Nichol and Mr C. S. Davies, Geraldine, was organist. The church was effectively decorated by the Sunday School teachers and friends of the bride. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a trained frock of ivory beaute satin made in a simple classic style. The bodice was fashioned with a cowled neckline and finished with a row of covered buttons down the back and a high lama medici collar. The fitting sleeves were pointed over the hands and trimmed with tiny buttons. Her embroidered tulle veil, kindly lent by Mrs Willmott, was held in place by a halo of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of roses, begonias, sweetpeas and maidenhair fern. Miss Mo.lie Taylor, Christchurch, was bridesmaid, her frock being of waterlily green embossed georgette. The square-necked bodice had full bishop sleeves, and a large bow and stitched belt trimmed the bodice. Accordeon pleating was introduced into the ankle-length frock and formed a short train. She wore green Howers stitched with gold in her hair. Her bouquet was of gold and lemon flowers. Grade Martin attended as flower-girl and wore a ‘ frock of the same shade and material as the bridesmaid. The neckline was ruched and finished with a tiny frill. The sleeves were puffed and the full skirt finished with a frill round the bottom. Her Juliet cap was of green tuiie with gold flowers at either side. She carried a posy to tone. As the bride left the church she v ’as presented with a lucky horse-shoe by her small niece, Rosalie Davies. Mr McGregor Brown was best man. 4 reception v*as held in the Presbyterian Hall. The bride’s mother received the guests in ? w’ine-coloured lace frock finished in panne velvet. Her velour hat to match was finished with a quill. Her posy was a gladioli to tone. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy moire ensemble with velvet hat to match. She carried a posy of red carnations. When Mr and Mrs G. A. Wright left by car for the north, the bride travelled in a wine coloured frock and velour hat to match. She also wore a musquash coat with brown accessories to match. Mr and Mrs Wright will make their home at Clinton.
