MAGISTRATE’S COURT

SHORT SITTING Mr H. Morgan, S.M., presided over a short sitting of the Timaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Selby Wealleans (Mr L. M. Inglis) pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to give way to traffic approaching from the right. Senior-Sergeant D. J. Hewitt said that defendant had been driving his car west along Arthur Street late at night, and he collided with another car. Not a great deal of damage was done. A fine of £1 10s and costs 11/- was imposed. Charles Knowles did not appear to answer a charge of failing to park his car as near as possible to the kerb. He was fined 10/- and costs 12/-.

On a charge of selling cigarettes after hours, Evangeline Eaton was convicted and fined 10/- and costs 10/-.
