WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MILFORD The president. Mrs A. R. Guild, presided over a fair attendance of members, at the fifth annual meeting of the Milford Women’s Institute. The president read the report of the year’s work and thanked the treasurer, secretary and all members, and Messrs R. Lyall, D. Crossman, and A. Brown and the men folk of the district who had so readily assisted in all Institute functions during the year, also the Milford Hall Committee for its generosity and help. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Alex Brown for the splendid work done during her years of office as treasurer,
and to Mrs Guild for her generosity and untiring service as president. The resignations of Mrs Guild and Mrs A. Brown from office were accepted with much regret. The election of officers resulted:— President: Mrs R. Prattley; secretary: Miss B. Woodhead (re-elected); treasurer: Miss M. McCormick vice-presi-dents: Mesdames A. R. Guild, G. Parke, D. Brown; committee: Mesdames A. Chester, D. Crossman, A. Caithness, Misses L. Cain, M. Chester and H. Prattley. Mrs A. Caithness moved a vote of thanks to Miss B. Woodhead for her report of the half-yearly meeting held at Timaru. Mrs J. McCormick and Misses McCormick and Prattley were hostesses for the afternoon.
Competitions resulted as follows: — Premium bloom: Miss M. McCormick, Mrs D. Crossman, Miss H. Prattley.
