TIMARU TOC H

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS On Saturday evening members and friends of Toe H from Geraldine to Oamaru met In the local Group’s Rooms to mark the occasion of the Timaru Group’s fifth birthday. In welcoming the Mayor (Mr P. C. Vinnell), visitors and visiting Toe H members, the chairman (Mr D. W. Beswick) stated that this was the first occasion that the Timaru Group had held a birthday celebration, and expressed a hope that the evening would further cement fellowship between the Toe H units in the South Canterbury and North Otago area. He then briefly outlined the early history of the Timaru Group, and stated that Toe H was gradually becoming a force in the community, through individual and corporate effort, but that it had many avenues ahead for extension of its activities. The Oamaru Padre (Rev. Plum) gave a short address on Toe H and its ideals, and Messrs W. Widdowson (Oamaru), D. Robinson (Geraldine). W. Mills (Waimate), and L. Whitehead <Temuka), congratulated Timaru on attaining its fifth birthday. In congratulating the unit, the Mayor stated that he deemed It a great pleasure to be present to see the spirit of fellowship that prevailed. He had listened to Mr Plum’s talk with much interest, and he hoped that Toe H would continue its good work in the community in its unassuming way.
