SEARCH FOR OIL
OVERTURES TO GOVERNMENT By TPlPerfiPh Prp«>« Asisorlat’on CHRISTCHURCH, March 6. Confidence that in the not distant future serious efforts would be made to locate the flow of oil in the Dominion was expressed by the Minister fo Mines (Hon. P. C. Webb) this morning. The Minister revealed that overseas interests were keenly interested in the possibility of discovering a flow of oil in New Zealand, and many overtures had been made to him for the introduction of up-to-date legislation that would preserve the interests of those prepared to spend large sums of money on prospecting.
‘‘Legislation will be brought down next session to put the whole of our oil resources on a proper national basis,” the Minister added. “This has already been done in Great Britain, and I hope to have the Bill ready when Parliament assembles.”
