The Davis Cup does not provide a medium for entertainment, although it is of national Interest, is the judgment of the Court, which decided against the Revenue Departriient, which qlaimed £lO,OOO entertainment tax tin the French matches in 1932, 1933 and 1934, when £lOO,OOO was taken. The Tennis Federation contended that the matches were only sporting demonstrations. •AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS PARKER WINS INDOOR SINGLES TITLE United Press Association—Bv Electric Tpleerapb —Cooyrlßht (Received March 8, 12.35 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 7 Parker and Mlle. Henrotin won the national indoor singles championships. Parker defeated Bowden 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1. Mlle. Henrotln defeated Miss Hirsch 10-8, 1-6, 6-2. At Philadelphia, Phipps won the national amateur court tennis championship, defeating Van Alen 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
