VALEDICTORY
The popularity of Mrs O’Keefe and family was fully testified to on Thursday evening when about 200 residents of the surrounding district met in the Washdyke Hall to bid them farewell. During the evening Miss Orma Ford very kindly gave two items which were very much enjoyed. Apologies were received from Mrs Wooffinden (Pleasant Point), Messrs R. Davie (Albury), E. Cartwright, F. Stocker and H. J. Harris. After supper Mr Parlane introduced the guests of the evening and referred to the many good qualities of Mrs O’Keefe as a neighbour and resident of 45 years and expressed the wish of all that she would enjoy many years of good health and leisure. Mr Beckingsale also spoke on behalf of Rosewill residents.
In making the presentation Mrs Brosnahan referred to Mrs O’Keefe as her first friend when she came to the district 39 years ago, and it was a great pleasure to acknowledge that friendship by asking Mrs O'Keefe to accept a chiming clock and cheque as a token of her help and kindness to all. Mrs Brosnahan also presented Miss O’Keefe with a gold wristlet watch and thanked her for her great help to the district, and especially to the Rosewill Women’s Institute, of which she had been secretary and treasurer for the last two years. A Darwin razor was then presented to Mr O’Keefe and much regret was expressed at his departure from the district. Musical honours were accorded the guests after which Mr J. O'Keefe replied on behalf of his mother. Miss O’Keefe and Mr T. O’Keefe also returned thanks.
