TOUR OF SPRINGBOKS

TWO POPULAR MANAGERS Messrs Percy Day and A. E. P. De Villiers have been chosen as joint managers of the party, which will be 33 strong, 31 players and two managers, states Syd Malcolm, former “Wallaby” and “Waratah” captain in a specially written article for the “Herald.” Mr Day is secretary of the race club at Johannesburg. He is regarded as father of the South African Rugby Board, of which he is a foundation member. He will be popular at the Rugby games, at golf and at the famous racecourses of New Zealand. An amateur boxing champion he is one of the best-known men in the Union. He has also Indulged in swimming and tennis. His partner, Mr De Villiers, hails from Orange Free State, where he is a bank manager and a member of a well-known sporting family. It was expected that one of the selectors would have been chosen to look after the team matters and the preparation and tactics to be employed. Both managers have had control of teams <m tour.

A big band of pressmen, including such notables as H. B. Heartland and Mark Steytler, is travelling with the team, as well as a number of wellknown Rugby enthusiasts.
