MOTION FOR NEW TRIAL GRANTED By Teiegrai-n Hir-s.- association AUCKLAND, March 5. A new trial was granted by Mr Justice Callan in the case in which Marguerite Metre Wrack was awarded one farthing damages in respect of a claim for £4OO against William John Bekker, an elderly retired soap manufacturer, for an alleged slanderous statement concerning her. His Honour said that he felt, in view of the nature of the statement, that the damages awarded were too small. The question of costs was reserved.
