CONTROL OF SUPPLIES
FUTURE OF ELECTRICAL UNDERTAKINGS British Official Wireless (Received March 4, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, March 3. The Government has decided to adopt in principle, subject to certain modifications in detail, the recommendations for the reorganisation of electricity supplies made by the Committee on Electricity Distribution, which presented its report in May of last year. The Committee recommended that the scheme should include provision for a substantial reduction in the number of undertakings, of which there are now 634 operated by 627 separate authorities, and the prevention of splitting up of comprehensive undertakings. The Commiteee also recommended that the charges for electricity should be lowered and levelled, and voltages standardised.
