CONDITIONS IN TIMARU Two delightfully sunny days provided pleasant weather over the weekend which, but for a strong west wind on Saturday would have been perfect. An east wind of fair strength arose yesterday morning but by noon it had faded away to a pleasant breeze and the remainder of the day was ideal. Records at Timaru Park on Saturday were:— Barometer —29.44. Max. temp.—7l.4. Min. temp, on grass—43. Wind—W .3. Rainfall—Nil. Sunshine—ll. 7 hours. Records yesterday were:— Max. temp.—74.4. Min. temp, on grass—36.B. Wind—S.E.2. Rainfall —Nil. Rainfall to date this year—3.62ins. Rainfall to date last year—l.39ins. Sunshine—l 2.7 hours. Sunshine to date this year—224.7hrs. IN OTHER CENTRES Christchurch. Brilliantly sunny weather prevailed over the week-end. A fresh north-west breeze blew on Saturday afternoon and continued yesterday. The barometer rose steadily all day and registered 29.89 inches at 5 p.m. Temuka: Yesterday and Saturday were both fine warm days, nor’-west weather prevailing. The maximum temperature was 70 degrees. On Saturday the minimum temperature was 43 and yesterday it was 46. The barometer wag rising last evening. Dunedin.—There was a fresh breeze from the south-west on Saturday but the sun shone throughout the day and the temperature rose to 68 degrees. Windy conditions prevailed yesterday, the wind being strong from the southwest. The sun shone for most of the day .but there were occasional passing clouds. DOMINION METEOROLOGIST (Forecast at 4 p.m. yesterday) General Situation —An anti-cyclone still covers the Tasman Sea. Pressure has risen considerably over the Dominion but is still rather low to the southeast.

Winds—South-west to southerly prevaillng still strong in some exposed positions but decreasing and elsewhere light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters)—Rather rough to rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits, but gradually decreasing and elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate southerly winds and slight to moderate seas.

Weather—For the most part fine with rising temperatures, but a few passing showers at first on the western and southern coasts of the South Island; later becoming cloudy on the east coast.
