PERMIT TO “SEE HUSBAND”
It is not often that a permit must be given to a young woman to see her husband—always supposing that he is not “in jug.” However, this surprising request was made recently by the young English swimmer, Mrs Olive Wadham, to the chaperon at the carefully guarded "Women’s Home” near the Olympic Stadium. Hubby was, apparently, arriving from London in the afternoon, and the lady wished to surprise him by meeting him on the station, and promised faithfully that she would be back at the swimming pool for practice at six o’clock. The story goes on to state that the request was granted, and the young athlete wearing her blue blazer with its little Union Jack met her husband, and after the affectionate greeting Mr Wadham was told that he was only going to have his wife’s company till swimming practice time. She kept her word and all was well.
