VOLCANO ERUPTS

REPORT FROM TONGA Bv Telegraph Press Association WELLINGTON, November 27. According to a wireless message received from the Union Company's Matua, one of the small islands of the Tongan Group, two miles south of Honga Tonga, was the scene last Sunday of a volcanic eruption. This locality is the scene of frequent submarine eruptions. In 1923 Captain Davey and the officers of the Tofua saw a severe eruption, and in 1912 a series of submarine disturbances was seen by the late Captain Crawford aboard the Tofua.
