LABOUR VICTORY

CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAY ELECTION By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, November 27. With the exception of one subdistrict seat—Riccarton —Labour candidates had a clear-cut victory in the triennial Christchurch Tramway Board election yesterday. In the central subdistrict the six seats to be filled were all won by Labour men, five of whom were sitting members. Labour retained the Heathcote sub-district seat, but lost the Riccarton sub-district seat to an Independent. The party alignment on the board, however is not materially altered, except that the Citizens’ Association is now not represented at all. The last board had seven Labour members, one Citizens’ Association member, and one Independent. Now there are on the new board seven Labour men and two Independents.
