FALL OF ROCK
TUNNELLERS INJURED By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, November 27. Sixty feet underground in a drainage tunnel at Blockhouse Bay, two workmen were severely crushed and a third had a narrow escape in an accident at 10 o’clock this morning. The injured are: W. J. Power, married, Mount Albert, bruised back, knees and body. William H. Trayes, married, Kingsland, injuries to an ankle. The men were putting in a set of timber when a fall of papa rock came down and trapped them, pinning down Power and Trayes. The latter got free and helped the third man, Dick Bradie, to move the rock and get Power out. Brodie was clear when the rock fell. Although Power was severely bruised he was able to walk along the tunnel nearly 500 feet to the exit, and after a short while was taken home in a taxi. Trayes also was taken home.
