LABOUR FOR FARMS

INNOVATION BY GOVERNMENT T Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 26. Within a week or so the Government will establish a harvesters’ camp in the Waikato. It will be situated at Morrinsvllle as the central point from which the State will supply transport for men to and from farms requiring labour. Camp accommodation will be provided for 50 or 60 men to begin with. In establishing the camp the Government has a dual purpose: (1> to supply labour for farmers during the haymaking season, and (2) to give the unemployed on demoralising sustenance an opportunity to become rehabilitated into industry. If it proves a success the scheme will b» extended to other districts where harvest time is later.
