SUMMER SHOW

HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY The Timaru Horticultural Society’s annual display of summer blooms will be held in the Bay Hall on Wednesday next. This show, with roses predominating, is perhaps the most attractive of the year, and always arouses very keen interest. Altogether 81 classes are available, 51 being devoted to cut flowers, 16 to the decorative section, and 13 to vegetable and fruit classes. The initial points for the Beverley Challenge Cup for most points in the vegetable sections during the season will be gained at this show, and the Mrs R. H. Rhodes Challenge Cup for hardy flowers, the P.A. Elworthy Cup for roses, and the Mrs W. H. Cartwright Memorial Cup for sweet peas are to be competed for. Entries for all classes close with the secretary on Tuesday at 1 p.m. It should be noted that the show this year is for one day only.
