WAITOHI

SCHOOL CONCERT A most successful concert, organised by Mr G. Campbell, was held in the Waitohi School on Monday in aid of the school funds. The items were as follow.—Dances by Misses Symon, Jacobs and Griffiths; acrobatics, Miss Marian Symon; songs, Misses Campbell and Gwen Griffiths, Messrs Burns and Barlow; instrumental trio, Messrs Bums, Bailie and Denley; recitation, Miss Alice Osborn; Maori duets, Miss Gladys and Colin Griffiths; violin solo, Mr R. Williams; cornet solo, Mr J. Burns. The stage manager was Mr Percy Barlow. At the conclusion of the concert, the chairman (Mr Watson) in thanking Mr Campbell and the party, remarked that the concert was easily the best ever staged at Waitohi and he received strong support when he called for three cheers for the party. The school was then cleared and dancing was indulged in. Splendid orchestral music was provided, extras being played by Mr Lienert.
