W.C.T.U.

The monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held yesterday at Highfield Presbyterian Church Hall. Mrs Cave presided over a splendid attendance of members and friends. Mrs Brown led the devotions.

Apologies were received from Mesdames Norrie, Minifie, Hunter, Arras and Macdonald. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mrs Goldie in her recent bereavement.

Mrs Woodward reported on the activities at the Sailor’s Rest. Four oversea steamers had been in port during the month. Papers were received from Mrs Gillingham, Mr Day, of Geraldine, Mrs Dobie and other friends.

A report of the District Convention held recently at Riccarton was given by the delegate. A short period was spent in community singing. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the Highfield ladies.
