AWARD WANTED

PIANO TUNERS AND REPAIRERS By Telegraph Pless Association AUCKLAND. September 3 “This is the first occasion on which these workers have applied for an award,” said Mr Dixon, in the Arbitration Court, when an application by the Furniture Trades' Union for an award for piano tuners and repairers was sought. Mr Anderson appeared on behalf of the employers who opposed the claims. The men asked for a five day week of 40 hours, a wage of £6 a week, double time for overtime and an annual holiday from Christmas Day to January 2, both days inclusive. The employers' opposed the five day week. They suggested a weekly wage of £4/7/6 for those who could tune only or repair only. For men who could both tune and repair a wage of £4/15/was offered. Mr Anderson said these workers had no claim to an annual holiday. Overtime at time and a half was offered. The Court reserved its decision.
