DEVELOPMENT IN AUSTRALIA BROKEN HILL INTERESTS SAID TO BE CONCERNED United Press Association —By <iecpn*» Telegraph—Copyright (Received September 3, 1.5 a.m.) CANBERRA, September 3. It Is announced that private enterprise will shortly begin the development of the Newes shale oil deposits in Central and Western New South Wales under direct encouragement from the Commonwealth Government. The Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons) stated that the Government had received a satisfactory offer from a “great industrial concern to lease the Newes undertakings ahd petrol from shale to a maximum of 10,006,000 gallons a year would be granted protection over Imported petrol. It is understood that Broken Hill interests are princpally concerned in this undertaking.
