Fairly heavy rain fell in the Wairarapa district on Saturday night and to-day, about inches being recorded in Masterton up to 6 p.m. Flooding of low-lying areas occurred in parts of the district notably between Carterton and Greytown, near the Waiohine River, and in the lower reaches of the ftuamahanga, but these areas are always subject to floods with heavy rain. The area near the Pa at Martinborough also was flooded to some extent, but th® water was reported to be dropping again to-night following the cessation of the rain.
