CARE OF GLOVES

The appearance of fabric gloves is improved if, after washing, they are put through a thin starch and then ironed. A few drops of olive oil should be added to the water in which chamois leather gloves are washed. It helps to keep them soft and pliable. Adhesive tape may be used with advantage for mending kid gloves. It rhould be applied on the wrong side, to hold together the edges of small splits or worn seams. The glove should then be turned right side out again and very neatly darned with silk of the same shade. A glove linger may be comfortably held for darning if a pencil or a fairly thick penholder is slipped into it. For darning doeskin or chamois leather gloves fine wool is belter than silk or thread if the skin is very soft. In order to make a strong repair it is advisable to buttonhole round the c- a hole befc_ i darning it.
