ATTACK ON SAFE

ATTEMPT UNSUCCESSFUL By releg!. r»h l'»ess Association AUCKLAND, August 21. An attempt to blow open the safe of the Royal Oak Post Office early this morning failed. A charge was placed in a keyhole, but the safe door resisted the explosion. The intruder, who was evidently an amateur, gained entrance by breaking a glass panel in a door, and left a jemmy behind the safe, which contained pension payments which were to be distributed to-day. When the safe was drilled open today, everything was intact.
