Three Italian aeroplanes from Addis Ababa to Jimma were ambushed upon landing. Eight officers were killed, including the Deputy-Chief of Staff of the Air Force, also Colonel Antonio Locatelli, who flew over the Andes, in Greenland and in the Arctic. ITALIANS PLAN RETALIATION VILLAGES TO BE DESTROYED United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received July 8, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 8 The Rome correspondent of “The Daily Telegraph” says: The ambushed planes went to Jimma, which the Italians have not yet subdued, in response to a message from Jimma notabilities, asking for a deputation to which they might make submission. It is reported that General Graziani is despatching a punitive expedition, consisting of bombing planes, with orders to destroy all the villages, within a wide area of the ambush.
