WEATHER SUMMARY The weather in December was mainly fine and warm, with exceptional high temperatures towards the end of the month. Rain fell on six days for a total of 3.69 inches, of which 2 inches fell on one day. The following are the detailed recordings: December 14, 83 points; 19th, 59 points; 20th, 15 points; 28th, 35 points; 29th, 165 points; 31st, 21 points. Total 3.69 inches, as compared with 2.44 inches in 1934 for the same month, and 6.78 inches in 1933. The total rainfall for 1935 was 46.12 inches, for 1934, 48.65 inches, and for 1933, 38.17 inches. GENERAL Favoured by exceptionally fine hot weather over the Christmas holidays a large number of visitors and campers visited Peel Forest. On New Year’s Day a large number of picnickers spent the day at the bush, although conditions were not so good. Light, misty rain fell on Friday. The Rangitata river has been dirty for some considerable time, causing much disappointment to visiting anglers.
