WEEKLY SWIMMING CONTEST VISITORS ENJOY SPORT The weekly evening swim conducted by the Geraldine Swimming Club was held at the Domain Baths on Friday evening, when the president (Mr J. D. McKechnie) took the opportunity to express pleasure at the presence of visitors, including a number from the motor-camp. He thanked them for their interest, and hoped that they would spend an enjoyable time in Geraldine.
Messrs McKechnie, F. W. Morgan, and J. Stevenson were in charge of the races, which resulted as follow: — Women’s 25 Yards—N. Morgan 1, J. Murray 2, P. Sutherland 3. Junior Boys’ 25 Yards—T. Grayburn 1, M. Bell 2, C. Small 3. Learners’ Width, Boys—L. Richards 1, G. Grayburn 2, L. Leary 3. Junior Girls’ 25 Yards—L. Morgan and Z. Stevenson equal 1. Men’s 90 Yards—J. Webb .1, J. Stevenson 2, E. Wood 3. Boys’ Dive—J. Sutherland 1, C. Small 2, T. Grayburn 3. PERSONAL Miss Kirkpatrick and Miss Blair, who spent the holidays at "Markinch,” have returned to Dunedin. Mr and Mrs J. Gillies have returned from a holiday at Green Island, Dunedin. Miss Margaret Collins, who has been spending a few days in Geraldine, has returned to Mayfield. Mr and Mrs D. F. Collins, who have spent the holidays with their parents in Geraldine, have returned to Bluecliffs, St. Andrews. The Rev. J. R. Grave (Timaru), Mr and Mrs H. Pearce (Christchurch), and Mr J. P. E. Veale (Christchurch) are guests at “Markinch,” Main North Road. Misses S. Twigg, J. M. McWhinnie, E. Askin, and J. Hewson have returned from the Presbyterian Bible Class Conference which was held at Dunedin. VITAL STATISTICS The following are the vital statistics for the month of December and for the quarter ended December 31, the figures for the corresponding period last year being given in parentheses: Monthly figures—Births: male 2 (1); female 3 (2); total 5 (3). Deaths: male 1 (0), female 1 (0); total 2 CO). Marriages 4 (2). Quarterly figures—Births: male 7 (4), female 9 (9); total 16 (13). Deaths: male 6 (2), female 1 (0); total 7 (2). Marriages 11 (5).
