FAREWELL CONCERT The Aorangi Hall, Fairlie, was filled to capacity when the pupils of Miss Chrissie Talbot presented a very entertaining programme of pianoforte and vocal items. The high standard of the various items reflected credit on Miss Talbot, and deep regret Is expressed at her impending departure from the district. The stage was artistically decorated with large copper bowls of lupins, Oriental poppies, Geulder roses and greenery. During the evening bouquets were presented to Miss Talbot from pupils and friends, and to Miss Bernadette Mangos, who assisted. After the concert parents and friends were the guests of the pupils at supper. At a suitable interval Miss Nellie MacDonald expressed regret at Miss Talbot’s departure, and then presented her with a crystal jug and tumblers. Miss Talbot made suitable reply. The programme presented was as follows;—Piano duet, “Sleepy Time” (Bilbrow), Max Edward and Ezric Slow; piano solo, “Bridal Wreath Waltz” (Duval), David Patton; vocal solo, “Lullaby” (Schubert), Ezric Slow; piano trio, “March of the Hussars” (Gurlitt), Phillip Neil, Arthur Thomas, Ron Braddick; piano solo, “Sailor’s Dance” (Dunhill), Mary MacDonald; Plano duo, No. 1 from Gurlitt’s Album, Phillip Neil and Ron Braddick; piano solo, “Impromptu” (Schubert), May MacDonald; piano trio, “Minuet” (Mozart), Patty Wareing, Eileen Cooper, Mary MacDonald; vocal solo, “Home Thoughts” (Bantock), Miss Chrissie Talbot; double duo, “Polonaise” (Scharwenka), piano No. I, Misses C. and N. Talbot, piano No. 2, Misses N. and M. MacDonald; vocal solo, “The “Damozel” (Novello), Mrs Percy Roberts; piano solo, “Spring Song” (Mendelssohn), Phillip Neil; vocal duet, “Oh Love” (Liszt), Mrs P. Roberts and Miss Nancy Talbot; vocal solo, “Sea Fever” (John Ireland), Mr Alex Reid; piano duo, “Water Bug” (Miles), Misses Bernadette Mangos and Chrissie Talbot; vocal solo, “Pleading” (Elgar), Miss Nancy Talbot; vocal solo, “Indian Bell Song” (Delibes), Miss Chrissie Talbot. The accompaniments were played by Miss Bernadette Mangos and Miss C. Talbot.
