VIENNA BOYS’ CHOIR

TO-NIGHT’S CONCERT The celebrated Boys’ Choir of the Imperial Chapel at Vienna will give a performance in the Theatre Royal to-night at 8 o’clock. The boys, accompanied by their rector, Rev. Father Schnitt, and the musical director, Mr Victor Gomboz, will arrive from Christchurch this morning at 11.25, and at noon will be accorded a civic reception by the Mayor in the Council Chamber. The programme to be presented tonight will be identical with that given on the opening night in Auckland, and of which a leading Press critic wrote: “Th@' exquisitely refined art of the Vienna Boys’ Choir was heard to especial advantage in the Town Hall, when a large and discriminating audience could not sufficiently applaud the skill of these talented children. No better ambassadors for Viennese music could be found than these charming little people, who exchange cassocks for sailor suits and silver wigs for lovelocks, who obey every indication of their conductor with affectionate docility, and bow and curtsey to their audiences with the grace and decorum of cavaliers and court ladies.” Children will be admitted at half-price to all parts of the theatre.
