Bowls filled with the same flowers were placed on the steps of the Sanctuary, making a delightful setting for the bride and her attendants. Mr R. Butchard acted as usher. She carried an armlet of Madonna lilies. Two bridesmaids were in attendance. They were the bride’s sister, Miss Kathleen Byrnes, and her cousin, Miss Margaret Wellwood. Their frocks of deep magnolia satin were made with cowled necklines, held in place with diamente clips, and with bell sleeves. The skirts fitted to the knees and were slightly flared to form short trains. An attractive finish was made by tiny satin buttons on the backs of the frocks. Sashes of cerise velvet matched the trimming on their wide-brimmed leghorn hats. Bouquets of ranunculi, roses and asparagus fern were carried to tone with their frocks. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Cyril Patterson, as best man and Mr Ernest Anderson as groomsman. After the ceremony relatives and a few intimate friends motored to the residence of the bride’s parents where they were entertained at breakfast in a large marquee. The guests were received by Mr and Mrs Brynes, assisted by Mr and Mrs Patterson. Mrs Brynes wore a navy blue and white ensemble and a large navy straw hat to match and carried a posy of red anemones and maidenhair. The bridegroom's mother wore a black ensemble and hat to match and carried a posy of ranunculi. Later in the day the bride and bridegroom left for the south by car.
