THE WAGES TAX

“REDUCTION NOT JUSTIFIED’' By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, September 18. A resolution expressing the view that a general reduction in unemployment taxation is not justified, has been sent to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance by the Christchurch Rotary Club. The resolution is as follows: “We, the members of the Christchurch Rotary Club, representative of all sections of the business and professional community, are of the opinion that a general reduction in the unemployment taxation is not justified (a) unless the amount of unemployment relief is brought to a standard which renders unnecessary the continuation of local appeals for additional relief, and (b) unless the lower scale of incomes has been exempted from this special taxation.”
