USES OF WOOL

PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN URGED MR FORBES’S VISIT TO ENGLAND United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, June 26. A particularly interesting feature of the visit of the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr G. W. Forbes) to the Wool Industries Research Station at Torridon, Leeds, was the extensive exhibit Of yam and unmanufactured materials, illustrating the new process for the manufacture of unshrinkable wool fabrics. This process, which has been developed at Torridon, is being thoroughly tried out on a considerable scale to explore Its commercial possibilities, and if it is successful, it will be of great value both to producers and manufacturers. Another new fabric for upholstering motor-ears has great possibilities which are being explored, and samples are being sent to New Zealand. The question of initiating a wool publicity campaign was discussed at length With wool experts. The subject is arousing interest, particularly in View of the American campaign now in progress. The general view appears to be that the time has arrived when serious consideration should be given to the formulatioh of a plan of action. Mr Forbes Entertained Sir James Part (High Commissioner for New Zealand) gave a reception to Mr Forbes in the Mayfair Hotel, at which five hundred New Zealanders were present.
