FAIRLIE
PIPE BAND DANCE The fortnightly dances which are being held in the Parish Hall on alternate Saturdays, are very popular, the dance held on Saturday last, was, in spite of the adverse weather conditions, very enjoyable. Music was suppled by Mr E. Peterson, violin and Mrs Page, piano. Extras were played by Mrs Cogar and W. Clarkson on the accordeon and also on the bagpipes by Piper A. Fitzsimmons. Mr J. Edge was a capable M.C. Mr T. Elem has donated prizes for novelty dancing, which will be competed for at the next fortnightly dance. The dances are run by the Band to gain funds to liquidate the debt on the new uniforms. WEATHER The good spell of winter weather broke on Sunday when snow commenced to fall about noon. The fall continued until late in the evening, when the township was covered to a depth of 6 inches. The hills surrounding are thickly covered and reports from the back show that falls varying from four inches to a foot have occurred. A good thaw set in on Monday and the snow was fast disappearing.
