The South African cricketers beat Northamptonshire by an innings and 35 runs. Although play did not commence until 2.40 owing to rain and stumps were drawn at 5 o’clock, South Africa won the match with Northamptonshire with five minutes to spare. The wicket became increasingly difficult and a gale of wind necessitated dispensing with bails.
