RUGBY PLAYER’S DEATH By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON. June 9. A Rugby player Charles Connor Astall. aged 23, died in Lewisham Hospital on Saturday night as a result of an injury received while playing for Petone in a first division junior match against the Wellington Club at Petone in the afternoon. During the match, which is said to have been hard but clean, Estall tackled a Wellington player low and in doing so was struck on the head by his opponent’s knee. First aid was rendered and it was thought the accident was not serious. Estall watched the game for a short period from the sideline, but later developed more serious symptoms and was taken to hospital.

This is the second young player who has died from injuries received on the Rugby field at Wellington this season.
