TIMARU ROWING CLUB
BALL AND PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES
The dance held by the Timaru Rowing Club last evening was an unqualified success, more than 70 couples being present in the Bay Tearooms. Music was supplied by an orchestra, extras being played by Mr T. Tapp. Novelty dances were won by Mr R. S. Goodman and Mrs P. D. Laurie, and Mr McDonald and Miss Warsaw. Mrs D. C. Turnbull presented the trophies to the winners, congratulated them on their success and wished the club all prosperity. Mr Geo. Wills referred to the kindly interest that Mr and Mrs Turnbull took in the club, and the gathering sang “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” Following was the prize list:— Elementary Fours: J. Mitchell (s), D. Papprill, E. Shewan, E. Henshaw. Vice-president’s Fours: W. Davies (s), R. McDonald, E. Shewan, R. Baillie. Christmas Fours: R. Bracefield (s), J. McDougall, R. T. Turnbull, J. Lennon. Wm. Evans’ Doubles: K. Hutchison (s), D. Ussher. President's Fours: H. Currie (s), S. Johnson, T. Ware, R. Baillie. Light Weight Double Sculls: J. Wain, C. R. Bracefield. Heavy Weight Double Sculls: C. De Clifford (s), J. Mitchell. Autumn Double Sculls: J. Mitchell (s), W. Burns. Handicap Singles: J. Lennon. Championship Singles: J. Mitchell. Messrs J. Mitchell and C. De Clifford were presented with regatta caps. It is some years since the club has included these honours in its list, and the scullers were congratulated on their meritorious success against such opposition as was apparent at the Port Chalmers Regatta.
