NEW ZEALAND AND CANADA
PERIOD OF TRADE AGREEMENT EXTENDED By Telegraph —Press Association WELLINGTON, MAY 14. It was announced by the Hon. Adam Hamilton, Acting Minister of Finance, to-day that by mutual agreement between the Governments of Canada and New Zealand, the existing trade agreement between the two countries had been extended for a further period of six months' from and inclusive of May 24, and the necessary notification will be given in the New Zealand Gazette. The agreement was originally brought into operation on May 24, 1932, and was to remain in force for a period of one year, but it has from time to time been extended, and unless action were now taken it would expire on May 23. It was expected that a new agreement would have been entered into after the recent revision of the New Zealand customs tariff but the domestic affairs of both countries have not permitted this to be carried out. It is the desire of both Governments that a new agreement should be concluded as early as possible, and no doubt this will be effected as soon as circumstances permit. Under the existing agreement the value of New Zealand products exportt.n flnnnHa has hppn •
