HOCKEY

ARRIVAL OF INDIAN TEAM By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 13. The Indian hockey team arrived today, and were met by officials at the boat and afterwards accorded a civic welcome. The Mayor made reference to the friendly attitude of the Rugby and Association football authorities, in agreeing to postpone matches on June 1 to avoid clashing with the hockey, India versus Wellington fixture. Mr Goodman, president of the New Zealand Hockey Association, also spoke, and the manager of the team, Mr B. Doctor, said if the visit gave an impetus to the game in New Zealand the real object would be attained. They were more or less on a goodwill mission. The visitors were entertained at morning tea by the Government at Parliament House.
