FLOWERS FOR LONDON
EXTENSIVE MARKET PROVIDED British Official Wireless (Received May 13, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, May 11. A new flower market at Spitalfields, which has been erected by the London Corporation at a cost of £2.000,000, as an extension of the fruit and vegetable market and which is designed to meet the demand for cut flowers in the eastern districts of London, will be opened early in June. The British trade in cut flowers has steadily increased since the war, and it is now the largest of any country in the world. The trade amounts to £14,000,000 per annum.
