JOURNALISTS’ TOUR
MANY CELEBRITIES MET By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 13. Mr lan Donnelly, associate editor of the Christchurch “Sun,” arrived in Wellington to-day by the Remuera from London. He has been away from New Zealand for more than a year gleaning impressions in England, Germany, France, Russia and Geneva and meeting famous people. His book, “The Joyous Pilgrimage" will be published at the end of the month, he said. Mr Donnelly was in Geneva about 10 days before the assassination in Marseilles of M. Barthou, the French Foreign Minister. He saw him in vigorous form in the Assembly when the Swiss Foreign Minister brought some extraordinary claim for war reparations. M. Litvinoff he also saw in Geneva, but had no opportunity of talking to him. He met Tom Mann, the veteran English militant, in Moscow, and the latter announced his intention of returning to England “to have another fight." Among other men he had met during his trip, Mr Donnelly mentioned Mr E. de Valera, Mr J. H. Thomas, James Maxton, Sir Stafford Cripps, Sir Norman Angell and such literary figures as Walter de la Mare, Sir John Squire, Gilbert Murray, J. B. Priestly and W. W. Jacobs.
