RAILWAY HOUSES
ELECTRIC LIGHT FOR 560 By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 13. Mr G. H. Mackley, General Manager of Railways, stated to-day, on behalf of the Government Railways Board, that the Board had decided, with a view to improving the amenities cf home life in the more isolated railway communities, to install electric lighting in all those railway dwellings situated in locations reasonably close to a source of power supply. “Approximately 560 houses are affected,” said Mr Mackley, “and the work will be put in hand as quickly as possible. Contracts will, wherever possible, be let for this work in the localities concerned.”
