Canadian exporters want the Japanese demand for an appraisal of the yen at par, instead of as a depreciated currency, granted. Canadian manufacturers oppose this on the grounds that it would open the door to a flood of Japanese manufactured goods, mostly of textiles, a large part of which would also be supplied by England.
