LOCAL ELECTIONS

OFFICIAL COUNT By Telegraph—Pres? Association DUNEDIN, May 11. The official count for the Mayoralty gives all three candidates increases, due to errors in additions at the booths, and to the addition to each of a small number of declaratory votes. The figures are:— Rev. E. T. Cox 12.215 Mr J. J. Marlow .. .. 10,425 Mr R. S. Black 5.268 Informal 210 MAJORITY REDUCED By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. In the official count of the votes cast in the Christchurch mayoral election the majority secured by Mr D. G. Sullivan. M.P., has dropped from 578 to 336. While this is not the final decision —declaration votes had still to be taken into account when the announcement of this result of the count was made yesterday—there is said to be no likelihood whatever that Mr Sullivan can be displaced by the unsuccessful candidate, Sir Hugh Acland. Without taking the declaration votes into account the mayoral figures are now: — Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P. (Labour) .. .. .. 20,030 Sir Hugh Acland (Citizens’ Association) .. .. .. 19,694 Informal 214 Total votes cast .. 39,938 I.OST ON THE DRAW By Telegraph Pres? Association WHANGAREI, May 11. Mr Luke Webb, who has represented the Otonga Riding of the Whangarei County for 18 years, and has been chairman of the Council for nine years, lost his seat this morning, when a tie between him and Mr G.
