VISCOUNT GALWAY
RECEPTION AT OAMARU By Telegraph—Press Association OAMARU, May 2. Having expressed a wish to meet the citizens of Oarnaru on their way north, the Oarnaru railway station was crowded with townspeople this afternoon to greet the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, and Viscountess Galway. On their arrival the Mayoress (Mrs M. F. Cooney) presented Viscountess Galway with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the citizens of Oarnaru. In extending a welcome to their Excellencies, the Mayor (Mr M. F. Cooney) said that the people of the district were looking forward to an official vice-regal visit. Their Excellencies had already won their way into the hearts of the people, and he was sure that they would, as representatives of their Majesties, render distinguished service in New Zealand. Viscount Galway, in thanking the Mayor and citizens for the cordial welcome, said that they had already become to feel part of the Dominion. Their Excellencies during their short stay moved among the people and by their gracious kindliness endeared themselves very much to the citizens, who warmly cheered them as the train steamed out. The Governor-General left Dunedin yesterday morning for the north. Prior to his departure he received Dr Dickie, Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly, who presented an address of welcome.
