TREASURES BURNED
HOME OF AUGUSTAS JOHN ON FIRE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received April 30, 7 p.m,) LONDON, April 30. Returning home at 11.20 p.m., after visiting friends, Mrs John, wife of the artist Augustus John, found their home at Fryerncourt, Hampshire on fire. Her husband, son, and the maid were asleep in their rooms above. She aroused them and all fought the flames until the arrival of the fire brigade. The dining room with, its antique furniture and paintings, some by Augustus John, were burned.
